Electrified VAV Terminal Systems
Revising the VAV system to meet ongoing decarbonization trends.
This presentation will review industry trends towards an electrified and decarbonized built environment and the impacts it has on historical VAV system design. Heat pumps systems are becoming more common for both new and retrofit projects and are quickly outpacing all electric reheat or traditional high water temperature gas boiler systems. The impacts of these systems will be discussed with a focus on how traditional terminal heat exchangers and their performance are impacted. This presentation will present industry research and findings and provide recommendations on design, selection, and control of terminal units to improve HVAC system performance.
